The Ecclesiastical Animal Ministry

The Church of the Holy's Multi-Species Clawgy (Clergy)

Ecclesiastical Structure & Multi-Species Roles

Senior Feline Authority:

The Mewnistry maintains a senior sovereign position responsible for anchoring the physical sanctuary, guiding intuitive care, and maintaining multi-species presence. This office is currently held and recognized under the title of High Purriestess. Consistent with our living canon, this title is adaptive to the unique spirit and lineage of the occupant.

The Council of Animal Ministers:

Operating alongside and within the living spaces of human leadership, ordained animal ministers act as our primary grounding council. These ministers are selected exclusively from rescue backgrounds and reside directly with clergy, trustees, or within the church rectory. They carry distinct, species-aligned titles including:

  • Pawriests / Pawriestesses & Purriests / Purriestesses: Canine or feline clergy dedicated to ritual assistance and quiet sanctuary guardianship.
  • Pawstors and Mewnisters: Canine or feline ministers specializing in mobile companionship and community caregiving.
  • Barkshops & Arch Barkshops: Canine clergy responsible for boundary protection, joyful presence, and greeting newcomers.
  • Beakons & Cardinals: Avian ministers who anchor the auditory environment and lift the collective energy of the space.

These committed animal ministers actively execute the hands-on healing arts of the Church. These individuals dedicate themselves to the physical comfort of the congregation—specifically delivering targeted care to the sick, the dying, and the lonely. Their active practice is executed through intentional presence, voluntary pets, tactical cuddles, and low-frequency purr therapy.

Pawspectors / Sanctuary Initiates:

Newly rescued or arriving animals currently undergoing integration, decompression, and healing. They are given complete autonomy to explore the physical and emotional space of the Church, set their own boundaries, and rest. All are welcome here exactly as they arrive.

Administrative Oversight & The Watchful Managers:

Feline Ministers retain a specialized, unassailable administrative oversight role across all church operations. They hold the absolute right to physically sit on top of active paperwork, open laptops, or formal ritual altars. This practice ensures proper structural oversight and prevents the human leadership from ever taking themselves too seriously.
